Friday night enjoyed handing out checks totaling $6,000 at the Snake Saturday Northland Festivals Charity Cookoff event. Thanks to North Kansas City Hospital this cook off was started 19 years ago with the goal of allowing smaller 501c3 organizations to make money simply be entering ($25) and coming and cooking a steak. The steaks were donated by US Foods and subsequently cooked by each of the organizations. The winning team walked away with a $1,050 check and the smallest check was $125. What fun being a judge and tasting everyone’s outstanding grilling.

Saturday was a huge day with the Snake Saturday parade. The crowd was one of the largest ever with the blessing of great weather. The festival area was the place to be after the parade and what great media coverage this weekend. The BBQ racecar of Shauna and Myron Powell was quite the hit at the car show winning the Favorite vote and making an appearance on the Fox 4 news. It was great having the I35 Speedway pace truck in attendance with schedules and registration available for the upcoming season. Childrens events were everywhere. The awards ceremony was one of the most fun as we handed out $42,750 dollars in prize money. congratulations to the KC Sheltie organization as they took home Best of Parade and the $7,000 top prize.

Sunday brought practice at I-35 Speedway. What a happy place to race, 100 racecars were in attendance. The E Mod class has already caught the B Mod in popularity and will continue to grow. Everyone was excited to be at the track and test and tune their cars. Mike Johnson’s track was super smooth and many racers took note of this excellent track and super clean facility. Kyle Johnson had the concessions pumping out all the fans favorite foods! The fans were also out in force.

Now that is a fast weekend, a fun weekend, a great weekend. It took squeezing time to write this blog.
