What a great night of racing for our 12th week! Compliments everywhere on this race night starting with beautiful weather, 97 racecars in competition, visitors from several states, totally awesome racing, kids winning bicycles and fishing poles, packed grandstand, Santa Claus at the track, new pit lights, and fireworks! I-35 Speedway is the place to be if you want to have fun. Don’t believe me, well why not let Facebook speak for us.

Krista Romesburg via Facebook, “Fireworks at I-35 Speedway were awesome”!!! Nicole Bills, “Great races and great fireworks display as always had a great time”. Larry Probus, “Good ole multi groove racing’”. “GREAT facilities and a wonderful staff! Wife and I will definitely be back! Nice people nice track!” From Greg Johnson in a review of I-35 Speedway via Facebook from last week.

Serena Smith to I-35 Speedway, via Facebook messaging, “We sure had fun last nite, we like to thank everyone for making us feel so welcome, we sure will be back again”. Serena and her husband John are from Kentucky and won the 54th Street gift certificate. In person, they were very impressed on how the staff ran the show stating it was race after race, where they are from in Kentucky it takes all night to get the races completed.

So, speaking of the racing, how about that high side pass by JJ Baumli to overtake Randy Smith on the white flag lap of the E Mod race, wait maybe that was not the best race, how about that make up B Mod race where first time this season winner Shadren Turner edged Ed Noll, slow down a bit maybe the second B mod feature was the best race as Ed Noll again played the bridesmaid and came up about a foot short of first time this season winner, Eddie Schwope, Jr. Noll was the winner of the tenderloin we give away at the driver’s meeting each week, maybe that extra weight held him back. Maybe those races were not exciting enough then how about the three-way battle for first in the Stock Car class lap after lap, between Jason Estes, Brad Whitney, and Dean Wray and a race where Jon Boller Jr. displayed his talent for driving on two wheels auditioning for the Chitwood driving show. Wray the eventual winner described it best in his winner circle interview, that even though he banged off the wall a couple of times that was just good hard clean racing! The modified feature, Darren Shaw grabbed the high side, but the mover of the night was Mark Dotson who experienced going to the rear and driving back up to second!

All the above you would expect at a racetrack, right? Well how about Santa Claus coming down from the North Pole to visit at Christmas in July. As he arrived a bit early before intermission we had to take a short break because the kids mobbed him by the flag stand. Santa took the time for each of the children. Ed Noll donated two bicycles which were given away at intermission and new sponsor, The Bait Shop in St. Joseph Missouri, donated two boys and two girls rod and reels, so six lucky kids went home with additional presents.

Finally, did anyone notice how lit up the new pit area has been! Yes the lights are working and it was almost as if the sun never set in that part of the pit area.

As you can tell we have lots of fun at I-35 Speedway. People are happy, racers enjoy the competition, the track has been great (obviously with the great racing), lots of races with 97 racecars, just a great place to be on Saturday night. Make time to be part of this fun, just in case you have not, and if you have been part of this fun, THANK YOU, we look forward to doing it again this Saturday!
