Notes from Daytona:

Speedweeks kicks off the 2014 racing season.

The largest issue this year is the Number 3 on the racetrack.  Opinions swing the pendulum but those against it returning are the loudest on talk radio.  Three different radio shows and the hosts have hung up on fanatic fans.  Of course the conspiracy theorist are definitely out there also, after all this is a restrictor plate race, must have given Danica’s 2013 restrictor plate to Austin?

Congratulations to Jennifer Cobb, she ran a great race event though they had trouble getting fuel in the truck.  Face it folks she is one of our own and she has accomplished racing at venues some of us only dream about.  As for the truck race itself, congrats to Kyle Busch.  On the stop in Atlanta we met a couple from Wisconsin, they were telling us a couple of Kyle stories, like he does not like track officials.  However, they also mentioned that Matt Kenseth comes to race with them and requires a $10,000 show up fee, Kyle races to race, no show up fee he comes because he loves the sport.  Shouldn’t we be supportive of the racers who come to race and not for a show up fee.  After all show up fees raise the fan ticket price!

As for Sprint cup, let’s go Bowyer ad Edwards, stay out of wrecks, and keep all four tires on the track.  Off to the Nationwide race….more to come.
