As the season winds down, the autumn air becomes cool, jackets become the outer wear, hunting gear comes out of the closet, bon fires are started to keep us warm, and then you come to I-35 Speedway and the racing is just amazingly Hot, HOt, HOT! If you attended I-35 Speedway this past Saturday, you were a witness to all the above. The theme was wear your hunting gear, if you did not, you brought a jacket/sweatshirt to put on as the sun went down (afternoon temperature reached 75 degrees at the track). Some bon fires could be found in the metal barrels in the pits. The racing was some of the best all year.

Let’s start with the A Mods and Sport Compact classes green to checkered. How about the way the Pure Stocks started us off, the last three laps of side by side racing for the win with Cody King making a last ditch effort out of turn 4 to claim his first win over Carson Masoner – Wow – that was exciting racing. Lucas Shott led the talent laden A Mod field to the green and twenty laps and eight minutes later he was taking the checkered flag. The always stout B Mod field was conquered by Ed Noll. The Sport Compact feature had Eric Schmidt claim the win. Buz Kaster let the field in front of him drop off the track or out of the race to claim his win. Matt Dorssom claimed another win in the E Mods but not without pressure from Randy Smith and Josh Munsen.

So here we are the last week of the racing season, we have enjoyed great racing all year. Please make your plans to attend so your winter racing withdrawals will be put off a few weeks longer. We have seen 11 different winners in the B Mods telling you how close and competitive this field of racers has become. We have been blessed with some great weather by Mother Nature. A great team of officials have worked hard all year to be the best at what they do and be the best at being fair. We have worked as a family and given of our hard-earned dollars to support those in our racing family who have been less fortunate and for that we as a track say Thank You! We have honored our country, our family, our first responders, and our military, again Thank you to them. We have enjoyed learning about our race family of competitors through weekly write ups. We have enjoyed watching the young gain the experience to be competitive. We have enjoyed watching the competition on the track and enjoyed rooting and blowing our air horns and screaming and hollering for our favorite drivers. We have enjoyed our time of camaraderie!

But we are not done, while the track will close for season after this weekend (October 29), we get to party on Saturday November 12. Everyone is invited to purchase ticket for the season ending banquet. The I-35 Speedway banquet will be held on November 12, 2016 at the A.V. Spillman Event Center, 308 S.
